The Biggest Book Launch Ever -The First Hand Account

For the first time in my life, I am short of words. For the first time in my life, may be, Thank You is too short a word to express my gratitude to the universe. Cause what happened yesterday was no short of Magic. What the people and I experienced yesterday is BEYOND what was planned, thought and visualized.

My dearestest friend, Sonu Niigaam who launched the book, not only escalated ‘I Am Another YOU’ to a greater level, but, also made sure that the purpose behind this Mega Launch was not lost in the celebrations -the purpose of reaching out to the universe.

All my life, I have firmly believed that when the intentions are right, the people involved are on the same plane and when you have put your mind, body, heart and soul in your belief, it’s not only you who work towards achieving it, the entire Universe joins in! The crowd, the media, fans, book lovers – each one present there was transformed. Such is the power of goodness. It is contagious and spreads like wild fire. I have seen and met people who are in search of light, in look out of direction and many a times just pass across it –never realizing it. ‘I Am Another YOU’ ignited a fire whose light has enlightened every soul it has come in touch with. And a light like that, once ignited, can only spread.. It transforms and transformation is never ordinary. Yesterday was extraordinary. It was the Biggest Book Launch -Mumbai had ever witnessed. Yesterday, 25th November,2009 – records were broken and ‘I Am Another YOU’ wrote a chapter in the pages of history.

For the persona that I have known him as for years, Sonu Niigaam, was just the right medium to take this forward. A man who had a dream like thousands others, but, didn’t wait for it to come true, didn’t expect destiny to serve him his share.. A man who rose through his own strength to realize his true purpose in life and made it through a way on which many have faltered, quit or lost hope, Sonu is rightly the Brand Ambassador for perseverance and humanity, for believing in the power of self to achieve whatever one truly desires in life and for affirming the universal truth my book translates to – that “I Am another YOU” and “If I can, so, can you..”

With his presence and gestures, he touched many a souls, transformed many a lives.. like always. He is a man with a similar mission.. His voice has broken the barriers of the unknown, his story has inspired millions to dream and he, as an individual has done MORE to this world, given MORE to this universe than he will ever know. I will always be Thankful to him for being there, in strength and spirit:)

For 'I Another YOU', the journey has just begun. It is all set to reach out to the universe and break more records. Sonu through his voice and I through my book‘I Am another YOU’ have made our purpose ETERNAL. I hope you will too.

In humble prayer,
Priya Kumar

The Rediff Reach through

I have always said that I am the true beneficiary of my work:) After all, there is no greater power than universal REACH.I leave no stone unturned to reach out to people and extend my knowledge and experience. And that exactly was the main prerogative behind 'I Am Another YOU' as well. My work takes me places and I meet so many people everyday - confused, disoriented and entangled in their self created webs of despair, pain and agony. And all seem to have a similar link missing - guidance. Through my workshops, blogs, mails, interviews, book - any source to reach out and I am there.
Below is an excerpt from my most recent reach out effort through Rediff where I was invited to have a celebrity chat with their users. The queries varied from job frustration, office politics, inferiority complex, hierarchical problems to time and pressure management! Uploaded a few to spread the word.. It is amazing to know find people who want to help themselves. That's the best way to grow, after all..

Monish asked, I wanted to know how to tackle a boss who thinks nothing of you
Priya answers, Well, a boss only forms an opinion on your performance, not your potential. Your performance is what will get him to think 'something' of you !

Sudeen asked, Hi Priya . I am hardworking person in my organization but everything goes in vain.. How to showcase my hard work?
Priya answers, Well, you need to make sure that your hard work also gives 'results'. You also need to make sure that the result of your performance reaches your seniors. Many times people work hard but fail to report their success or ideas to their seniors. When you do a good job, do your own PR at work. Make your success known. It is likely that you are doing a great job, but your seniors don’t know about it.

NKG asked, I want to know how to work under pressure
Priya answers, Well, let go of all distractions and focus only on your work and only do your work until it is done. Pressure is good; it directs your focus and sets your priorities. use it to your advantage, else pressure can break you.

SK asked, how does one manage severe stress on mind amidst work deadlines
Priya answers, Same answer! Avoid distractions and focus on the work at hand. Switch off from everything that does not contribute to your work and done lift your head till you are done with your work.

Munish asked, Hello Priya how can we put enthusiasm in our team daily
Priya answers, The fastest way to build an enthusiastic team is to be an enthusiastic team player. Enthusiasm is contagious, you affect others!!! You become the cheerleader of your team and they will eventually follow one team player at a time.

Haaridas asked, Hello Priya , I would like to know more about positive thinking - how can we have positive thinking - pls advise
Priya answers, Hey to think positive you need to consciously direct your thinking. You need to know that your thoughts affect your behaviours. And thoughts are triggered by our senses. When you see a good image, it automatically triggers good thoughts. So make sure that you keep your focus on the positive things. Surround yourself with positive things. Listen to positive and energetic music, read good books, make your surrounding positive, and see the positive impact it has on your thinking. You will be amazed.

Anamika asked, how do we get team members to work as a team? How to motivate them to perform better?
Priya answers, People learn by example. If you can continually keep yourself motivated and if they can see you improving and making progress, then you can mentor them. Words don’t inspire people, actions do. You are the best motivation your team can ever have. Start with yourself and your team will be the best in time.

Ritu asked, how to handle a difficult boss? he is always insulting me in public but I don’t know what wrong I have done
Priya answers, Confront your boss and express how you feel. Maybe drop in an email and tell what impact his insults are having on your morale and performance. And if it still does not bear result, then look forward to moving on. Don’t buy into the insults if they are not deserved. But give him a chance to correct himself or in the least apologise.

Lallu asked, Hi I am on my own in terms of working on projects. Please tell me how to keep myself motivated as I do not have an anchor
Priya answers, Working on your own is a boon, trust me. Like I have been saying earlier to keep yourself motivated is easy. Listen to good music, move with it. Read good books, and send out your favourite quotes to people (that way you build a positive connect with people). Read my book :) It’s called I Am another You. Smile often. Laugh. Be the first to help. Wake up in the morning and blow a kiss to yourself in the mirror. Look out of the window and exclaim that today is the best day of your life. Write out a fortune for the day for yourself!! You can motivate yourself by what you do for yourself and what you say to yourself.

Kundanlal asked, I wanted to ask you. Everywhere we see steps of overcome work pressure, steps to overcome office blues. But what happens when there actually is no pressure when you think of it. But still one feels blue and not at all motivated to come to office? What should one do when leaving home and reaching the workplace feels like the most awful task of the day
Priya answers, You need to take a reality check on whether you are in the right job. If you don’t feel excited about your work then either you are under used at work or you are in the wrong job. Raise the bar, take on new challenges, help colleagues, look at the vision of your company and look at ideas to contribute. And please indulge in reader. A leader is a reader after all, and while you are at it, read my new book, I Am another YOU. You spend your whole life at work, and it is your responsibility to make it exciting. Reach out to people. Upgrade your skill. Do anything. Do something.

Stressout asked, Hi Priya....I have been a top performer for the last few years...but of late...I am not able to concentrate on my work...neither being able to give priority to my family....lot of negative thoughts running in my mind. Also the uncertainty in the job market is making me get sleepless nites....so I am like kind of feeling insecured....pls help me to overcome this
Priya answers, Well, the true test of a top performer is to remain on the top. And you lose your job only if you are not performing well. So get your act together and focus on your work, in fact focus on getting better. You need to become an asset for the company, your work needs to be directing in adding value. When you are productive, you can’t be negative. Opposite thoughts can’t stay in the same mind. And if your focus is on upgrading and adding value you will be posted higher and you can be rest assured that your job is for keeps. Don’t compare yourself to people who lost their jobs. That’s their fate, you can create your own destiny.

jk asked, Hi Priya, It's very difficult to stay motivated when your boss prefers your pretty colleague to you. I'm a guy and I can't compete with a hot chick, even though my work is better. My boss, unfortunately, is male too!
Priya answers, Yes, your boss is giving into 'unprofessional' bias and trust me it won’t last long. Eventually your boss will go and so will his pretty muse. These are all temporary setbacks but if you are a visionary and a long term player, you will realise that end of the day companies become empires on hard work and not just pretty faces. So stay focused, your day of glory will come. But if you lose focus and fall back on your performance, you will soon be replaced by even a prettier face. Keep shining!

Punit asked, Priya..I plan the things to do (some tasks) but not able to do??Why it happened with me all the time??
Priya answers, Well, just planning is not enough. You need to DO it as well. One task at a time. DO and finish ONE task at a time, and then get on to the other. Every one plans, it’s easy... but a few DO. Become a DOER, even if it is small things... DO IT

klmp asked, My boss had negative feeling about my performance even though I work sincerely, hard working with better discipline ...and I try to be more accurate according to him..what to do now?
Priya answers, It would be great if you ask your boss what exactly he expects from you. Don’t try to please him, ask HIM what he and how he wants you to work. Then work accordingly and get his feedback. many times we thing we are doing the things the right way but that is not how the boss wants it. But if you get clarity on what he wants and how he wants it done, then you have movement. And remember to check with him occasionally if you are on the right track and if he is happy with your performance.

Sanya asked, I haven't got a raise in 2 years. I am not interested in my job anymore because there's no incentive and because of the recession I'm not getting another one. What do I do? I don't want to work like this anymore and my performance is suffering.
Priya answers, Well, you are lucky you have a job. The market is conserving, so you got to understand that. This is the time to economise and work harder. trust me times will change, and you have to make sure that you have changed for the better. If your job is good, keep it, grow with it, your raise will come. This is the time to lie low till the storm passes. The good days will come.

Rahulk asked, When a boss doesn't practice what s/he preaches, how do you get the point across to them?
Priya answers, They will get the point soon. People who don’t walk their talk, don’t last very long. They can fool people for a while but eventually people get it. You need to be a long term player, and have a long term vision, and you will see all people such as these temporary furniture in your set up.. You walk your talk. You got a long way to go !!!!

Ramesh asked, I am handling a team of 4 leads (team of 16) but few of them are very silent and interact with less. Even during meetings, they just give and take status and not more than that. What could be the reason for their silence? How to open up them for better team management?
Priya answers, Hmmm, maybe having coffee with them and hanging out with them over lunch, getting to know them better, would help them open up. Share your life and time, and the investment will at least help you understand them, if not open them up. The professional environment sometimes intimidates people; your personal initiative could help.

After the Frankfurt Experience, now the Mumbai Calling!! Great news & some more..

Dear All,

Hope you all had a rocking Diwali. Mine was Superb. I was in Germany attending the Frankfurt Book Festival where I was invited from India for a segment called 'India Reads' as the author of 'I Am Another YOU - A Journey to Powerful Breakthroughs' . The Frankfurt Book Fair is by far one of the largest attended book fairs in the world and is the world's largest hub and meeting place for experts from the field of media, books and arts. Needless to say, my experience was Exhilarating! Also, the response my book received there was Simply Overwhelming!

When I had contemplated with the idea of writing a book, my purpose was clear. I have lived all my life reaching out to as many people I can and share with them the learnings of my life.Putting my life's journey to paper has been by far my greatest achievement. It has not only ensured universal reach, but, also immortality of my life's purpose. What more could I give back to the world from whom I have received so much than myself in heart and soul :)

We make a living of what we get, but we make a life of what we give. -Winston Churchill

Beyond The Covers..

'I Am Another YOU' on What's Hot

An interview that honestly went beyond the covers..

And another happy reader review for you all -

Hey Priya,

Finally have finished your book!
Actually I want to share with you that I am not a person who usually read books….. But for last one year or so I have been wanting to develop this habit and have been failing. I can blame my work schedule for the same but that will be a lame reason…
I am happy to tell you that this is the first book that I have completed and I tell you that now I want to read more. Probably the books that I started were not the right ones to start with but I think I have now developed what I wanted. The good part was that I was travelling heavily last month and every time I was flying I made sure that I had the book with me and last week I finished it. This urge of reading was not there earlier and I use to rather prefer sleeping than reading when on board.
But this change is good ; So I just want to thank you for this and I guess now I don’t need to tell you how good the book is.
Though the best part for me was that its one book that I could visualise every moment and relate them to some part of my life and hence its rightly said “I am another you “

Regards & wish you a lots of success !

Dear Priya,

Let me take this chance to introduce myself. My name is Rashmi Kalwani, and I am writing to you from Dubai. But before I explain that let me tell you that I have had the good fortune to read your mesmerizing book – I AM ANOTHER YOU! I have been truly motivated & inspired by your book and more so by your beautiful & profound experiences! I think it would be of great value to share this experience & knowledge with people in this part of the world!

Last week, a dear friend of mine – Roshni – gave me your book to read. Needless to say I finished it in a few hours and was deeply touched by your life experiences and your wonderful writing.

And one GREAT piece of news that I couldn't await sharing with you folks was that 'I Am Another YOU' received a Go Ahead to be sold in UAE.. With that, we go International!!

I am off to London for a week..Will keep you all posted as and when I can..

Take care. And enjoy the reader reviews:-)

Dear Priya,
Many of my evenings are spent at Crossword browsing through books and magazines. Two weeks ago I chanced upon your book "I am another you". I was intrigued to say in the least because I found your name seriously popping in my consciousness..
Well to cut the chase I read the book in two sittings- I needed time to experience the rituals, process and the learnings.I loved the book and to have been privy to those rituals and shamans is truly sacred.I was left wondering about the other 7 rituals that were not mentioned!Congratulations, once again and be blessed in whatever you do!
Warm Regards,Sudeshna

Hi Priya,
I read the book and could not put it down - i read it one straight sitting - And I really did feel like I was a part of the rituals with you - I truly felt the I am another you part because - everything that u mentioned in as your desires , dreams and the feeling lost part - I've felt them exactly the same way - Maybe i was meant to read the book now..
Cheers
Satyen

Hi Priya,
I have completed your book I Am Another You. I have recommended that book to at least 10 of my friends.
Your book helped me a lot personally. I have the same prayer as yours “to be a billionaire” and I actually realized the truth in the words mentioned by Kahuna.
From the day I met you every day has been learning. I am waiting to connect to the spiritual leader.
Shripriya

Hi,yesterday at Pune I picked up the book late evening from Crossword and had been reading during journey today morning with the thought that on returning office I should send Mail to you about the first impressions after reading about 35 pages.
It’s just fascinating and beautiful. While reading one can so easily visualize too and trust me I was feeling the heat of Sweat Lodge and then froze too in the freezing water.
You are amazing and I am in the flow and shall wait to see when do I get a chance to interact with you. Congratulations! It’s a beautiful book to be read again and again!
For now,I have completed the Spiritual Walk along with you and Martin - An amazing adventure in to the realms of Soul.
Thank you for your fantastic insights. One can't read without being there with you. Reader doesn't have a choice - either be with you or remain where you are.
Thanks & Regards, Ramesh Sood

Rumba Nandriya Chennai!!

Hush. Finally fooled time to sneak out and update you guys! I almost surpassed the 'due' date i guess;-)
Oh, the good Lord Almighty knows that I have been living out of my suitcases for a week now. Workshops, book readings, media interviews et al.. Quite some week I tell you..
Anyways, the seeds of yesterday ripe another fruitful day.. Hope you all enjoyed the book promotional A/V.. The book reading in the South was one rocking event. Met amazing people, had a one-on-one with the media and received some ravishing reviews from one and all. My humble Thank Yous to one and all.

Now, as I promised here is one of the readers' mail that touched my heart -

Hi Priya,
I wanted to write to you since long, but, I think everything has its time. Maybe this is the right time, because I have an opportunity to thank you for writing " I am another you".
When I googled for you, to my surprise I found that you have written a book. I had decided that I want to read this book. I finished the book in 5 days, unlike otherwise when it takes almost a month to finish a book. I usually devote less than an hour for reading but I was so hooked on to your book that I would stay awake till 2 o'clock in the night to finish a chapter. I have been recommending your book to everyone and I pray that it becomes the National Best Seller...and then ofcourse International Best Seller!
Thank you for the experiences that you have lessoned for us. Thank you for sharing those experiences, I can imagine how difficult it would have been to reveal all. Thank you Priya for writing this book. I pray that you get a chance to publish it internationally as well. I pray that your book makes it to the International best sellers list. It will touch soooo many lives..
-Uma B.

ps - For all of you who didn't understand the title, it says Thanks A Lot Chennai;-)

The August Rush

This August has been by far the most magical August of my life!

Giving you all a quick recap on what’s happened in the past three weeks of the book release-

My book was out on the 1st. It’s in the front rack of all the book stores and to my good karma, the books have been moving from the shelf. Have got some great, rather humbling reviews from readers..

Received an amazing review in Sunday Times in the first week after the I Am Another YOU was out.. Was the Quick Pick recommendation by Mid Day in the second.. And the third ended with a two page great feature carried by Mumbai Mirror this Sunday.. And from what I can sense this is just the beginning.. There’s more to come. It’s really divinity in action somewhere!!!

Also, in this dry-dry-wet-dry spell, there has been a downpour of congratulation smses, appreciation calls and admiration emails via all the verbal and non-verbal means of communication possible. And this overwhelming response has truly been humbling.

With gratitude in my heart, I thank the entire universe for making this possible. And as a vote of my thanks, what I now intend to do is to publish few of these many reader feedbacks on a daily basis on the blog.

So, setting the ball rolling, here are the first few –

Have you ever heard of a book attracting a person? This is what happened when I bought your book from the Oxford bookshop in Churchgate last Saturday. I was on a short visit to Mumbai and went to the bookshop to pick few books. As I was about to leave, I chanced to pick your book among " New Arrivals" and felt compelled to buy it though to bookshop guys were not able to tell much except saying that this is a new book we recently received. On reaching home I started reading the book and found your story absolutely fascinating. Hats off to you for your honesty and engaging style. Your book is surely going to inspire a lot of people!
Sharad

This is a wonderful book priya..simply loved it..when's your next one coming out;-)
Mihita

Hi Priya, just finished your book..it's awesome..i just couldn't put it down..i gifted one to my best friend as well..also i want to add that you are one helluva superwoman i know..and i am glad i came across you..thank you!
Kshitij M.

Fantastic book Priya! I don't know whether you remember but, I had attended one of your workshops last year when I so wished to capture all that you said somewhere. Now, with 'I Am Another You' I can do that. Honestly, your book is better than anything I have come across. It is simply mindblowing!

Thank You All !!

Dear all,
I know this post has been due and I have never been so busy. It’s been just a week since ‘I Am Another YOU’ has released and the kind of reviews I am receiving are simply out of this world! The entire journey since its conception till its completion has been an enchanting roller coaster ride for me and all those involved with this book.

First and foremost, I would love to thank all of you who have virtually journeyed with me through ‘I Am Another YOU’. It’s incredible to know how this book has awoken many to their true selves and in some way or the other healed the unattended wounds. Every comment that I have read and every feedback that I have received has only humbled me more to work harder towards serving my purpose here.

Now, replying to all the comments you all have left behind –

Priyanka, there is only one word that came from my mouth when I read your comment – WOW. And picking up from what you wrote, if, I am the master and I am the slave, then, I will always choose to be the master. The point is- we Always have ‘the choice’ to be the master– we overlook it by underestimating ourselves and land up choosing the slave for us. You truly are another me.

Sohin, you have been a great support. I am glad you liked the book because you don’t look like the one who will settle for anything less than the BEST:-) And I would like to also tell you that your involvement in this book and dedication towards taking it to the next level has, too, been nothing less than THE BEST. Winners always Stand Apart.

Ashish, my God, you actually read my book and you call yourself a non-reader! Just like you when I came towards the end, my hands were trembling, but, I couldn’t stop writing. And that’s exactly what happens when you put in your mind, body, heart and soul to achieve a particular goal. And ‘I Am Another YOU’ is just the exact outcome you get – the impact of which spreads like sunshine. And to answer your question about when is my next book releasing, I will say - let this sun shine for now, it will shine tomorrow as well – brighter than today, reaching farther than today.. God Bless.

Leslieann, my dearest, you are simply Amazing. Your words of encouragement and appreciation will always be valued. And true to what you said, the only place where all wrongs can be ‘rightened’ is within us. And people who find their true inner self will look no further. For the plant to grow and fruit, the ‘right’ amount of water, sunlight and nourishment is needed.

Aarti, I don’t know how to react when you say the book was so involving that you didn’t even realize the phone ringing( you know what I mean ;-) For the person that I know you are, I can proudly say that you have added so much value to my life. I love the way you have summed up everything with brevity and precision – so much like you. May you always dope on hope. Power to all.

I AM AN OTHER YOU: About The Book

I AM ANOTHER YOU is a story of breakthroughs. Powerful breakthroughs!

You start this journey with Priya, the author, many years ago, trying to escape from a world that did not feel right.  You travel with her to the Netherlands, where she participates in some amazing processes with Natives who help her realise that that the place where wrong is “rightened” is within.  There is nothing wrong with the outside world if we sort out the world inside.  Each chapter opens to a new surprise , leading to a new realization about yourself.  Every page is an honest narration of struggle, overcoming and victory. The experiences are followed up with learnings, carefully extracted from real life, which can be applied – professionally and personally, to achieve a better life.

A book of many lessons, many insights and many truths, it has the power to awaken you to your best self. This book will urge you to take that path you always knew was right but never had the courage to follow. It will guide you, humour you, inspire you, touch you and above all lead you to – your own breakthroughs.
